Studio 17 Design.

What we did:

Design, Web Design & Development

Studio 17 is an award-winning industrial design and innovation consultancy based in Cambridge. Specialising in automotive and product design, they work with well-known brands including Philips, Subaru, John Lewis and Joseph Joseph.

We have the same ethos as Studio 17 when it comes to design and this has formed the basis of a great relationship in the five years we’ve worked together.

Our most recent work with Studio 17 came in 2014 when we were asked to design and build a new website to showcase their considerable talents.

The brief

The brief we were given was simple; to produce a website with the ‘wow’ factor. It was very important to Studio 17 that the website didn’t have a corporate feel and critical that it allowed their products to take centre stage.

We always love being given the freedom to get really creative, so we set out to push ourselves hard on both the design and build of the new website.

What we did

It was key that Studio 17 had total control over their content and weren’t limited in any way by the CMS. To achieve this, we built a full-screen grid-based layout that allows complete flexibility in the way that content is presented.

One of the big challenges we overcame was creating the same impact across all devices that would access the website, from 28” iMacs to mobile phones.

 What the client said

“In the five years we have now worked with TAC, they continuously create the ideal platform for us to display our portfolio.

TAC’s combination of design and technical expertise ensures we are always happy with their work

As designers ourselves we appreciate they understand exactly what is required to present our company to potential clients.”

The results

We’re always keen to let our client’s products speak for themselves. With amazing photography and a distinctive, high-quality product range, this project was no different. We avoided over-designed elements and unnecessary features, ensuring the content took centre stage.

To quote Dieter Rams, “as little design as possible”.

It’s a pleasure collaborating with people who are on the same page as us design-wise. We’re looking forward to continuing to support Studio 17 in what we’re sure will be an exciting future.
