TAC Podcast 001 – Nick Seekmagic.
We had an idea a little while ago to invite people whose music inspires us and soundtracks our day to contribute to our blog. Our idea was to showcase some of the people doing really great things in the North East music scene and a podcast seemed the logical way to do it.
So, a little later than we first planned, here’s the first instalment in what (we hope) will become a regular series.
TAC Mix 001 – Nick Seekmagic
The distinct honour of being our first guest goes to Nick Cubley from Seekmagic.
Seekmagic have been running parties in their native Newcastle for over four years now. Possibly the only purveyors of what they describe as ‘true balearic’ in the North East, the trio play a truly eclectic and expansive brand of music, crossing many genres but underpinned by THAT balearic sound.
The mix Nick has recorded for us is titled ‘Listen Now’ and reflects the music that can be heard at Seekmagic parties, with tunes from all four corners of the globe spanning 4 decades of music.
Nick describes the mix as…
”starting on the veranda late afternoon, with a cold beer, and ending up on the dancefloor with a large rum and coke at 2 in the morning”.
Seekmagic @ Surfcafé, Tynemouth with Phil Mison
Seekmagic’s next party takes place on Good Friday April 3rd in the very balearic surroundings of Tynemouth’s Surfcafé, an intimate cafe bar overlooking Tynemouth’s beautiful Longsands beach.
The party sees Seekmagic welcome guest Phil Mison, the “balearic goliath” who cut his teeth playing with Alfredo at Ibiza’s Café Del Mar and who has been DJing all over the world for the last 20 years.
It’s all kicking off at 4pm and admission is a bargain at £3 on the door. More info at the Facebook event page.
The mix can be streamed or downloaded from our SoundCloud using the player below. We’ll add a link so you can subscribe to our podcast in iTunes. Enjoy!
