Wylam Brewery: Relaunching the brand.
Late last year we joined up with Wylam Brewery, one of the most well known names in the real ale game, to develop a new brand identity and online presence. The brief we were given was based around supporting their ambitious expansion from their current home in Heddon-on-the-Wall, to the Palace of Arts in Newcastle’s Exhibition Park.
We worked in close collaboration with Wylam to rebrand all areas of the business. Particular importance was placed on conveying the brand’s key values of Quality and Heritage.
Creating a recognisable marque for Wylam Brewery
In a rapidly expanding industry, it was important that Wylam was able to communicate exactly what makes them distinct and appealing to their customers. This meant creating a new identity and developing a tone of voice that could be applied across all mediums associated with the brand.
The end result is a symbol that encompasses the two key values of the brewery: Heritage & Quality. The symbol itself was formed from the architectural drawings of the Brewery’s new home, the Palace of Arts, and makes reference to the building’s aesthetics.
Alongside the new marque, we used a distinctive serif typeface to give the brand a bold, contemporary and accessible appeal.
A new online presence
As well as developing a new identity for the Brewery we have also created a new website. Our aim was to enhance the existing online presence by incorporating the new branding, colour palette and typography. We also wanted to enable Wylam to effectively communicate the diverse new areas of their business.
In addition to finding out about Wylam Brewery’s beers the website tells the story of the brewery, enables visitors to find out about upcoming events and buy some beers from the online bottle shop.
